I am an 18 year old child of a single mother- Ms Bukola Salawu ,who is suffering from Breast Cancer. I completed my secondary school last year but I have been unable to go to school as I have to be fully on ground to take care of my mom who has been rendered immobile by cancer.
Many days, I struggle to get anything done and often find my head swirling due to the stress of taking care of my mother. My mom stopped walking some months ago and after she did a scan, we were shocked by the result that shows the cancer had spread to her spinal cord and had formed a hole in it. This was a devastating news for my mom and I. I see how challenging life can be after a cancer diagnosis, from severe pains to weakness , sadness, and desperation .All I wish is for my mom to be the strong person she was before.
She is supposed to start her treatment as soon as possible but the money to cater for her health is not available and we have been told by the doctor that she has to undergo surgery and immediately start receiving chemotherapy. The estimation by the doctors at Tomade Medical Centre, Ojodu Berger are as follows;
Surgery costs -N500,000,
Chemotherapy for three(3) months – N650,000
Six(6) blood pints – N90,000
Total cost N1,240,000 ( excluding other associated costs)
The doctors have warned that the surgery has to be done as soon as possible for her to survive. Like many others suffering from cancer, she did not ask for cancer and I started this campaign because I have nowhere to go for support. Please help her get back on her feet so I can move on with my studies. All these will be possible only with your help and contribution.
